While all teas come from the same plant, camellia sinensis, there are infinite variations amongst teas. In the matcha world, variation can come from growing techniques, harvesting times and techniques, terroir (where the matcha is grown), cultivar etc... Cultivar refers to the plant varietal that has been selectively bred by growers for particular properties. This workshop explores tea leaf cultivars and the resulting matcha it becomes.
We recommend having some basic knowledge of matcha before signing up for this workshop. It's best to have attended Reina's Matcha 101 workshop.
During this "cultivar" workshop, you will:
Come try 5 types of rare and premium single cultivar Matcha as well as Japanese traditional candy (it is plant based, gluten-free!)
It is a great opportunity to learn both about single origin Matcha and Japanese culture.
Purchase of matcha products is available after the workshop. Follow SAKAO tea on Instagram.
We suggest that you do not drink anything caffeinated prior to the workshop as we will be serving 6 matcha in total.
This event is subject to our cancellation policy.
